60-Day Journaling Challenge Days 37 & 38

Day 37:  Are you ready for Christmas yet?  Are the gifts all bought?  Are they wrapped?  Are your cards addressed and ready to mail?  are they already mailed?  What do you have left to do?

Gifts are all bought, Not yet wrapped! Cards are addressed and mailed off. I still have to finish decorating, wrap gifts, and make a few that are hand made! Other than that we are good to go!

Day 38:How do you know when you can trust someone?I always give someone the benefit of the doubt, and sometimes even 2nd & 3rd chances… I always think people can change, adn unfortunately NOT EVERYONE can! So I only know from experience… and i am sometimes too trusting!

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 35 & 36

Day 35: What is your ideally peaceful place?  and why?  I LOVE the beach… I can sit and watch the ocean for hours… I love watching my kids enjoy the sand and surf! I can Play with the kids, swim in the ocean, relax and read a book! That’s my kind of Peaceful!

Day 36: Could you live without that one special person in your life?  Absolutely NOT!  I’ve often wondered if I could go on if he were gone, and always thought NO, but I have watched a friend deal with the passing of her husband, and I HOPE that i could deal with it half as gracefully as she does!  She is a SUPER MOM, and Wonderful Woman! I hope she knows I look up to her, she’s like my hero!

60-Day Journaling Challenge Days 32, 33, &34

Dec 31:  Describe the first time you remember saying I love you to someone outside your family.

How Horrible… I have NO CLUE… I know it was probably some boy… but for the life of me can NOT remember… as I sit here and think, I know i said it to a few boyfriends before my husband (cuz I was an idiot) but can NOT for the life of me think of who… can’t picture that i actually thought i was in “LOVE” before… I mean I am sure i said it to a guy that i lived with for 2 years, but can NOT remember a single incident…

Dec 32: Someone can tell your joking around when you......

When I laugh, I CAN NOT keep a straight fcae most of the time.

Dec 22 : Who do you miss the most from your past?

My Grandmother Bognanno. She was an amazing woman, sooo many great memories of her!

And also my friend Niki.  She had her flaws, but I love her and miss her dearly!

Christmas Ornaments

OK, so I have been flashing my goodies on Facebook, and everyone has been asking how I made them.  And I have been promising to blog about it…. so here I sit, notebook at my side with hastily scribbled notes and measurements, lists of supplies, and some pictures to use…

Supplies: Assorted papers, scissors, paper cutter, acrylic paints, foam brush, Buffalo Snow flakes, assorted ribbons & fibers, glitter, lighter, funnel, crop-a-dile(or heavy duty hole punch), Pointy  tool or tweezers(i used a bead reamer), and a hot glue gun.

IMG_2126 IMG_2128

This ball was quick and easy to make. This is where the paper and ribbon comes in.  you need 12 strips of paper that measures 6X1 inches. I used 3 papers per ball, and layered them alternating the papers. You need 22 inches of ribbon, folded in half, and the 2 ends knotted together. Stack your papers, and punch a hole through the stack at one end.  now you need to feed the ribbon through starting on the printed side of the paper, this is where a pointy tool or tweezers comes in handy. Now tie a knot in the ribbon right up against the paper. About an inch above that tie another knot.  Punch a hole in the other end of your paper strips.  Feed ribbon through,  and tie another knot right up against the paper, and then spread the strips.  I then made a bow with the same ribbon I used, adn hot glued it to the top to finish it off. In all fairness, I found several tutorials for this ornament, and here is a link to the video that made it all simpler.  StampWithGwen .

IMG_2127OK, this one was SIMPLE, and jsut came from me playing around.  I painted the bottom with white acrylic paint, adn then sprinkles it with superfine white glitter with a dash of blue ultrafine glitter.  I then used the funnel to fill the ball just under half way with buffalo snow flakes and a bit more of the ultrafine blue glitter.  I used a white snowy fiber to hang it with, and a lovely red ribbon to make the bow, again the hot glue gun to attach it!!

IMG_2134 IMG_2135These are my FAVORITE ones to make… and super simple.  I use 2-3  colors of acrylic paint. I jsut give a squirt of the colors inside the ball, then place my finger over the hole, and shake, tap and swirl the ball.  Now you are going to have to drain the excess paint… I do this by placing it opening side down in the top of a water bottle.  I will then turn the ball on the bottle top, as the paiint is drying, to help with the swirling of the paint.  I am working on more of these, that are personalized.  I will share those when they are finished.

60-Day Journaling Challenge Days 30 & 31

Day 30: What is your idea of a perfect day?

My perfect day, is one where we are all happy, healthy, & WELL behaved!  But this time of year the perfect day it’s snowing, and we are all inside warm adn cozy, movies going, and me playing with all my crafty goodness~

Day 31:Write a letter to yourself as a child....

Day 31 is being done privately off my blog.  It was just way to personal, and emotional.

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 25

Thanksgiving weekend...
How was your Thanksgiving Day?  Who was there celebrating with you?  Where did you go?
Did you go out for Black Friday sales or did you shop online?  Did you put your tree and decorations up?

Thanksgiving we celebrated at my grandmother’s house, as we always do. Me, Norm, and the kids, along with my parents, brother, grandmother, & my Uncle Steve. My cousin stacy and her boyfriend stopped by for a little visit.  We ate, the kids played games, watched football, and looked through the Toys R Us big book of toys.

NO Black Friday shopping for us! We spent Saturday cleaning and organizing, and then got our tree. Sunday we had 2 Birthday parties to go to. So here i sit Monday night, waiting for my husband to put the lights on the tree.

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 24

What is it that keeps you going?   Coffee, for the daily day to day things…. Coffee is my gasoline. But in Life in General, it’s my husband and my children.  They are the reason i have any reality and stability in my life.  With out them who knows how I would have ended up.  I am very grateful to them for helping me to turn my life around.

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 22 & 23

Day 22:

List the jobs you've had during your lifetime.  Any you liked or disliked?

Burger King, Wholesale Depot, Brother’s Pizza, carnival, Denny’s, burger King(again) B&B Deli, Day Care Center, Gas Station, Babysitter, Blockbuster, Crystal Diner, Pat’s Diner, Ewingville Diner, Rite Aid(2 of them), Hallmark Store, MOMMA! that last one is my all time favorite job!

Day 23:

What do you do to get ready for Thanksgiving Day,dinner?  Do you have lots of Family coming over to your house?  Do you travel to a family members house?

I usually just make a dessert. Sometimes a side dish.  We still go to my Grandmother’s for Thanksgiving every year. So no work for me.

60 Day journaling Challenge-Day 20 & 21

Day 20:What's your favorite smell?  What do you associate with your favorite smell?

I love the smell of anything baking… and the smell of my dryer running.. what is better than fresh baked goodies, and freshly washed clothes and sheet?!

Day 21:Use 5 adjectives to describe yourself, explain each one....

1. Loving…. well obviously i love my husband, kids, extended family and friends,.

2. caring…. I also care about them all. I never want to hear that any of them are hurting.

3. Helpful…. If I can physically help someone, I will.  I even put myself out at times, to try and come through for others. I hate when I can’t be there for the people in my life.

4. Clumsy… i trip over my own 2 feet… or even just air.  If it can be dropped, I will.  If it can be knocked over, I will. If you can fall off it, I will.

5.LOUD!! Does this REALLY need any explanation? I always have been, and I assume always will be.

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 18 & 19

Day 18:Journal about a special anniversary, a celebration, a trip, or a gift...

In late June of 2009, we took a 9 day Bermuda Cruise to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversar wich was 7/7/2009.  It was the first cruise for wither of us, and our first Vacation without our kids. It was wonderful, the view, the sights, the food, adn entertainment.  We went to St. Maarten, St Thomas, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico.

I can NOT wait to go on another cruise, this time WITH our 3 kids.

Day 19: Did you have a childhood hide-out?  where?  Describe it.....

Not that I recall.  Unless you count making Blanket tents …

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 16

What sound describes you?

I will say either a Bull Horn, or a Train Whistle..

I am EXTREMELY loud, and I know it.  I try not to be, but it just doesn’t work.  I know it drives people nuts, and i am thankful to my friends for putting up with it.

unfortunately this is a trait my kids have inherited!~

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 15

You forgive_____________________ because.......

I forgive too easily, because I am a sucker.

I tend to forgive, or get over things entirely too easily.  I try to believe people deserve a 2nd chance, and sometimes a 3rd and 4th… it’s to the point that as of lately i am COMPLETELY jaded, and trust almost NO ONE!

Here are some projects i made using Digital Stamps form Grafico.  These projects will also be found on SCF DT BLOG shortly.  Go take a look and see what the other Talented women have done with these Digital Stamps and more!

I Won Blog Candy from The Funmare Before Halloween HOP!

I won a Gorgeous Paperbag album from Heartstrings-designs  .  Visit her blog to see her photos and video of the Mini Album.  I have a few photos below of my daughter, who ABSOLUTELY loves the album.

60-Day Journaling challenge Day 13 & 14

Day 13:Describe the most serious illness or accident that you have had.

Knock On wood, no big accidents… the only serious illness, is my Gallbladder. I have gallstones, but at first I was  a BIG baby about having it removed.  But now  I just REFUSE!  I’ve read and heard about people who have had them removed and had all sorts of issues… some foods you can NO LONGER digest at all, and some that  are leaving your body as soon as you put it in.  I’m not a fan of spending all my time in the bathroom.  So i will regulate my issues, by watching what i eat.  My attacks are much more mild than they were 10 years ago, and a LOT less frequent.

day 14: What is a favorite story you tell about yourself?   hmmmmm  this is a hard one for me...

I guess, how i met and married my husband in 7 months time.  We met twice just in passing,  but then finally REALLY MET in January of 1997.  We started Dating June 16, 1997, and we were married on July 7, 1999.  So it was whirlwind, that’s for sure! I must say I do NOT regret it at all!

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 11 & 12

Day 11:journal about a Veteran in your life.  If you do not have an immediate one, a friend perhaps, or a neighbor, or someone you know who is one.

There are LOTS of veterans in our family, Uncles, cousins, grandparents.. And we are grateful for each and every one of them.  I don’t have a lot to write about them, except to thank them all for their service, and loyalty to our country.

DY 12:Make a list of five ways you've changed in the last five years.  What changes do you wish to make in the next five?

1. I am a better mother now than I was 5 years ago.

2.  I am a better wife than I was 5 years ago.

3.  I am a better cook than I was 5 years ago

4. I am slightly more organized than I was 5 years ago.

5.  I try to be a better all around Person than I was 5 years ago.

In the next five years, I would like to be even more organized, a better house keeper, and I REALLY want to get my jewelry sold!

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 9 & 10

Day 9:What is your hair care routine?  How about your routine in the morning when you get ready?

Hair care… Wash Condition and that’s about it.  I straighten it occasionally.  But I just chopped it all off, so it doesn’t really need any work.

Day 10:Do you harbor resentment towards those who have done you wrong?

I try not to, but I must admit, sometimes my emotions get the best of me and I do.  I have one person in my life, that i swear her greatest goal is to make me miserable, so yes i RESENT her, but most people I can just let it go…  doesn’t mean I have forgiven or forgotten, sometimes it’s just easier to let things go

60 Day Journaling Challenge Days 7 & 8

Day 7:Do you remember any of your great -grandparents? What were their names? Write about any memories that you have.

I knew Grandmom Ann (My mother’s Dad’s mom) she was Wonderfull, she use to walk to my elementary school, and pick me up and we would walk home to her house, until my mom got home.  I remember her house, and the smell.  She had an old Porcelain doll that was saved from a house fire, that she kept in a glass box.

I met My Dad’s dad’s Mom, but i don’t really remember… I can’t remember her name, but i do remember ONE holiday meal at her house… We weren't close to my Dad’s dad as i was growing up.  I do remember attending her funeral though.

Day 8: :  If you were to publish a book about yourself, what would you title it?

If i wrot a book about my life I would title it   “The Misadventures of Melia”

Trust me there would be some Wacky stories!

60-Day Journaling Challenge day 6

What do you think brings good or bad luck?

I’m not so sure how much I really believe in Luck… More like Karma…

I do believe you get out of life what you put in to it.  You get back what you put out,… so if you are negative you are gettin “bad luck” if you are positive than “good luck’ but I  know there are positive people that have bad things happen, but i believe those things will work themselves out in the end.

60 Day Journaling Challenge Day 4

Do you do anything to help the needy?  and if so, explain some things you do?

We do as much as we can.  When my kids outgrown clothes and toys that are still in good condition, i don’t throw em away, i either pass them to friends that can use them, and if not, i take em to the clothing collection boxes.   I got lucky and i found collection boxes, that the sale of the clothing benefits firefighters, so that is shere i drop em off now.  I also  donate food, we stockpile in my basement, and when things are getting close to the date stamped on them, i donate them to the local woman’s shelter.  I wish there was more I could do, but money is tight for us here.

60-Day Journaling Challenge Day 2 & 3

Day 2

Are you trustworthy? and if so, why do you think you are?

Yes, I believe I am trustworthy… I  really have no explanation for why I think I am!

Day 3

What little things have happened to you lately that have really touched you or made a huge difference in your day?

In the last year, I have made a WONDERFUL new friend…and she is a DOER! She does for everyone, often getting herself screwed over in the process.  She is constantly doing things that make a HUGE difference in my day!  I was quite sick, and she took my kids back and forth to school for 2 days, and I got to SLEEP, i truly believe those 2 days, helped me heal and feel better MUCH faster than I would have, had she not been an AWESOME friend!  Money is quite tight right now, and she steeped up and let us borrow Halloween costumes for all 3 kids, this made a HUGE difference in their day, and MINE! I just hope that in return I am as good a friend to her, as she is to me and my family!

60-Day Journaling Challenge (Day 1)

OK, one of the Scrappy Groups I am a member of is having a 60 Days of Journaling Challenge..

This is the challenge:

Write in your journal area that you have chosen, weather it be online, in a book, in WordPad on your pc.  Remember it's your choice where you journal...
Your thoughts and opinions on this topic:  Everything happens for a reason, right?

I happen to be a firm believer that everything happens for a reason.  A person should have NO regrets for the path their life  has taken, because one little change and your life could be COMPLETELY different!   As much as I screwed up in my youth (IT HAPPENED FOR A REASON) I would not have met my husband, and had the wonderful children I have today had i not been a bit of a screw up!   So YES i believe things happen for a reason!

Card Kits….

Well, I am not a huge fan of Pre-made card kits… but my husband got me these great kits.  I get a new one each month.  Each shares a new technique, which to me is WONDERFULL.  Even if I don’t care for the papers used or the quality of the items in the kits, it’s nice to use those items to learn on.. because then I am NOT upset when i mess something up.

This first card, no new technique, I just like the way it turned out. Lesson learned, turn the button so either all the holes are lined up, or so that NONE are lined up.1

Now, this card not only is it the first sympathy card I’ve ever made, but also my first try at Paper piercing… I like it.. I REALLY like the stamp.

My Son’s Journal

A scrapbooking group I am on has an awesome challenge.  Make a Journal Jar.

WHAT IS A JOURNAL JAR?? Well, it is an empty jar, that you decorate, and then fill with Journaling prompt… such as

Do you have a hobby?

What is/was you favorite subject in school?

Did you have an Imaginary friend as a child?

List 5 things that make you happy..

Each day you sit down with your Journal and your jar… Pick a random  prompt out of the Jar, and then journal about that topic! This can be made for children or adults. I mean come on we aren’t getting any younger, who know how much longer we will remember some of these things. So write them down now, so they can be shared with family later.

I don’t have an empty Jar, so all I have done so far, is the Journal. I made this for my son, who LOVES to make up stories, and I want him to get everything on paper, so we NEVER forget his wonderful imagination.

I started with 2 sheets of Designer paper cut at 7 1/2 X 10 1/4 inches. My papers came from the Pressed Petals Fun Stac. Bought for just #5 at Big Lots.

IMG_1797

1 full sheet of Designer paper that I cut up for embellishing.

IMG_1796

A plain Composition book, scissors, adhesive, and Dimensionals.

IMG_1798

2 sheets of coordinating paper cut 9 1/2 x 6 3/4 inches.

IMG_1799

The 2 Designer papers, are the front and Back Cover, the 2 Coordinating papers are the inside covers.  I forgot to take pictures, but after you put the outside covers on, you cut in on the corners, so that you can wrap the paper over the edges. The inside cover is then placed to cover the folded edges, and to give a nice finished look.

IMG_1802

And this is my finished project, I cut Letter’s to put his name on it. I also cut pieces from the single sheet of paper to add some embellishing.

“Quilted” Card

OK, I spent my morning catching up on the blogs I follow.  Well, Mary over on CARDZ TV, created a WONDERFUL quilt pattern card.  I love Mary’s work, and since  this one didn’t need a cricut cartridge I don’t own, I decided to give it a go!

Here is what I came up with.  I traded the bow for a little Bling… I am sitll working on learning to tie cute little bows…

IMG00224-20100809-1232

I didn’t put any sentiment, because I’m not sure what I will use it for… I am pretty sure I know who I would send it to, just not sure what occasion .

Srapbooking/Crafting Friends DT

I finally completed my Very First DT Project.

You can find the DT page here: Scrapbooking/Crfating DT

The Digital Stamp set comes from My Gratifico

DT1

I don’t use Copics, can’t really afford them.  On this card i used My Mark It Ultra fine markers, and  I believe 1 CTMH Marker, to color the kids, Kite, and trim on the clouds. The background i Colored with chalks.  Not my normal work at ALL! The coloring was definitely outside my comfort zone, but I am VERY glad I tried it… I LOVE it!  I will definitely  be using the rest of the set, and this image again..

Halloween Treats

I am still playing catch up, with adding my work to my BLOG!
I am always scared to put my work up, but I was told to be
PROUD~
So here are some Halloween treats I did for my twins' Kindergarten
classes last Halloween. This first Project, I can't find the Video Tutorial i used.
All they are, is circles, one pencil & one pixie stick in each.
Score and fold the edges over in the back, secure with just a touch of adhesive,
and tie a ribbon on. The original had Small scalloped circles with
stamped images, but My kids had TONS of Halloween foamy stickers..

Now, for my older son's 4th grade class, I made Kit Kat Holders.
The video I learned from can be found here:
Kerry's Paper Crafts
This project was fun to make.
I LOVE HALLOWEEN

Friendly Card Making

I got a wonderful Friends Card Kit from Annie's Attic.
I learned how to use brads, and a glue pen with super fin glitter.
This was also my first try at randomly stamping the cardstock to make
it look like pretty designer paper..
I'm still not sold on using card kits, and following their instructions.

I did have fun making the tag to add to the front of the card.

Sweet Treats Cake & Flower Card

I love Blog surfing, as well as surfing YouTube to find inspiration for my paper creations. In my travels on YouTube, I came across LiveLoveandSCRAP.... Well, let me tell you, she has some wonderful videos, and an awesome Blog too. Live Love and SCRAP! Pleas go check out her blog... I definitely see myself making SEVERAL variations of this card... all cuts are from Sweet Treats... the icing across the top of the cake layers was done by cutting the trim for the cake plate 3 times, and trimming it down to fit. This card was also my first try at using my white gel pens to accent my cuts, and using glossy accents t make the centers of the flowers "pop". I really tried to tie a gorgeous bow on the cake... yeah that just didn't work out this time. My white paper layer was done with some silver embossing powder and my white pigment ink. I just didn't have any pretty white designer paper.

Wild card Cartridge...

My birthday passed a week ago, and I was given Money..

Seems no one knows me well enough to know what to get me.

That or they just know me well enough to know I LOVE TO

SHOP for crafty goods..... hmmmm?

Well, the Hubby took me to Wal Mart to check out the new

Cricut Lite Carts.... I thought they were supposed to be like 30 bucks...

I got there and they were $40. But there was a whole mess of cartridges in the

Clarence section. I sorted and searched... mostly fonts.... i have SCAL and DS,

No real need for font carts. But in the bottom of the stack, I found Wild Card.

This has been at the top of my wish list for a LONG time. Of course it had NO PRICE
marked on it. I took it to the register, it was $23. HALF the price of the Lite

Cartridges....WHOOOO HOOOO JACKPOT!!

I Love the argyle card... but when i cut the pieces (5inches)

There was one piece I had NO CLUE where it went, so i used it to accent

the envelope. Not sure where it was supposed to go, but I like it... So many ideas...

And another.... I just ADORE Halloween! So of course I had to play with this card.

I believe this was cut at 4.5 inches... could have gone bigger if i had 12X12 black paper to
cut a larger envelope. Just remember with Wild Card, to ALWAYS cut the envelope first,

use the fit to page button, and be sure to pay attention to the size it tells you it is.

Then cut the card and it's pieces in the right size.

HAPPY SCRAPPING

Post It Note Holders

I started some Post It Note Holders for craft shows...
I am ready to try a slightly different style.
The Owl is my first attempt at coloring with markers.
This project is a great, easy, & fun way to use up
scraps leftover from all your other projects!

Christmas In July

OK, I was advised, that I should be Proud of my work....
and show it off more on my blog. Part of my problem is I LOVE
to create, but I get lazy with my Blog, PLUS I get writer's block,
and NEVER know what to write about my work. SO I am working
on my blog like crazy today....
Here we have Christmas in July!
These 4 actually came from a kit.
I'm not a big fan of kits, I usually just use the parts of them.
This time not only did i use the pieces, i followed the layouts.
I like them. But hope to do a little more ORIGINAL work this coming week.
